Halloween is coming soon. The temperatures have finally dropped in Mississippi and I’m ready to do some holiday seasonal craft projects. We’ll start with some Halloween crochet projects that are easy to make and accomplish some stash busting at the same time. Just a few bits of yarn can transform the mood.

Then, I’ll share some information about paper crafting for the fall season. Craft outlets such as Craftstash and Cricut have so many trendy ideas for crafting with mixed media – everything from bits of lace to full vinyl products that add a holiday touch to your space (and make excellent thoughtful gifts too).

Crochet Patterns

From fun and funky to downright frightening, here are some easy crochet patterns to celebrate Halloween. I connected with the team at Craftbits.com for this fall season roundup.

These four projects captured my attention immediately. The Halloween Skulls scarf was designed by Twinkie Chan more than ten years ago and remains popular on the CraftBits.com blog. In just 15 rounds, a single skull head is complete. If you are new to crochet, be sure to collect the right tools for the hobby. My favorites are featured in this post about crochet tools and tips for making crochet easy.

Next up are these cute and easy Orange Halloween crochet pins. We’re talking scrap yarn heaven! You’ll need bits of orange, green, and black to make this easy, beginner-level pattern. The stitch skills include single crochet, double crochet, and half-double crochet. Consider making a few this season to wear with a pin backing or to give away to trick-or-treat guests.

My third selection is a knitted candy corn bowl.  Yes, it is knitted, but too adorable to pass by, especially for a candy corn lover like myself.

Finally, we have a cute wavy ghost that doubles as a fridge magnet. The pattern was designed by Myra Shaw Myra’s Craft Corner and available on Craftbits.com.

 Halloween Paper Crafts

There are so many amazing designers and makers here, so it’s only natural to offer some different crafting options, instead of only the Halloween crochet items.

Paper craft projects  are a natural fit for this season and fun for the entire family. The Haunted Hills Thinlits Die Set by Jennifer Ogborn collection has 8 silhouettes of a hunted house. Add on some of the included elements and choose a background for a spooky paper project. Use this visual for fall decor, cardmaking or as features in your family photo album.

Crochet Pattern Books

My bookcases are overflowing with crochet books and magazines. The crochet book selection on Amazon is truly wonderful and it’s no surprise to find dozens of Halloween crochet patterns available at reasonable prices and with free shipping through the Amazon Prime program.

Halloween Mystery Books

This is a fun book, authored by my friend, Robin Hollo and it’s climbing in popularity with young adult readers. I’m certainly not considered a young adult at my age, but I enjoyed it thoroughly!

Follow the adventure with these five costumed friends as they plan a prank, confront some rumors, and in the end…well, you’ll have to see for yourself when you read A Halloween Night Caper. Available now on Amazon.

Summary

From fun family time to quick solo projects,

I hope these ideas have inspired you to be creative this fall season and enjoy the traditions of Halloween.

Most importantly, cherish those you love and be safe.
