August 2016-Edinburgh Woolfestival Event
August 12, 2016 @ 8:00 AM - August 13, 2016 @ 5:00 PM
EWE, the Edinburgh Woolfestival Event, is building outreach opportunities for promotion of Scottish Wool and the related crafting associated with wool products.
Well, this was a surprise. I’ve stayed at the lodge of the Royal Highland Showground in Edinburgh! Yes, it was many years ago, June 1994 actually, but what a coincidence!
The Royal Highland Showground is accessible as a tram ride from Edinburgh City Centre, or by car from local areas.
As a Community Interest Company, the profits from this event will be used to support the objectives of the event.
The dates for this 2016 event coincide with the annual Edinburgh Festival days. There is much more to see and do in this area of the world in August! The historical past of Scotland becomes alive as visitors explore Edinburgh’s museums, art galleries and varied attractions. The Edinburgh Castle is a prime example. Climb to the summit of the Castle Rock, up a flight of steps known as Langs Stairs that were the original entrance. While walking the grounds, be sure to note that you are walking on an extinct volcano. As you walk higher on the castle grounds, turn around and admire the beautiful city stretching behind you.
During my stay in June of 1994, I remember the gentle rain and misty fog in the area, which shows in these photos. I also remember that the landscape was, in many ways, similar to the landscape in my home state of Mississippi, with rolling pastures and many farm communities.
